It’s no fun not to sleep.
I’ve been there. In fact I had two different bouts over the pandemic year where I lost a lot of sleep over a couple of months each time. It sucks, but it’s not hopeless!
We’ve talked about the idea of sleep debt, the best amount of sleep to get, and napping (if you missed it, you can click here and here to catch up.)
But if you’re regularly having issues falling asleep or staying asleep, it might be time to get some support.
Acupuncture for Sleep
Ahh, you knew I would suggest acupuncture, right? Seeing as how I’m an acupuncturist and all. ?
Acupuncture for sleep helps in multiple ways. Here are just a few…
- It helps quiet the mind – a racing mind doesn’t allow you to sleep.
- It reduces stress – gets you out of “fight or flight” mode and into “rest & digest” mode.
- It reduces pain – you can’t sleep if you can’t get comfortable.
Alas, depending on how long you’ve had the issues, it’s not a magical one-treatment fix and voila! perfect sleep forever.
But gosh, wouldn’t you feel so much better if you got 6 hours every night instead of 4?
Or if you switched from 5 bad nights a week to 5 good nights a week?
Or you only woke up once every night instead of three times?
How amazing would that feel?
I recommend planning on 4 to 6 visits to see how acupuncture is helping your sleep.
At your first visit, we’ll dig into the different factors for you which will then help me tailor your acupuncture treatment to you.
I’ll probably also give you a homework assignment but don’t worry, I believe in easy baby steps when changes are needed.
Then we’ll decide together what your treatment plan will look like.
