Addiction Recovery Support
NADA stands for National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. The NADA ear (auricular) acupuncture protocol is most commonly used for addiction recovery support, including smoking, chewing tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, compulsive eating and other addictions.
NADA can be a stand-alone treatment but it works best when combined with other supportive treatments such as counseling, medical support, and self-help support groups.
Benefits of NADA
- Reduces cravings
- Reduces withdrawal symptoms such as agitation, irritability, and jitteriness
- Improves sleep
- Reduces queasy feelings or nausea
- Provides relaxation and stress relief
Addiction recovery is very unique to each person – there is no set number of visits that each person needs. It can be as few as 3 or as many as 10.
Success Rate?
I often get asked what my success rate is for treating addiction. I intentionally never track a success rate among my patients.
Another person’s addiction has nothing to do with your addiction. Another person’s success at quitting has absolutely nothing to do with your success. You are a completely different person, with different motives, different triggers, different support systems in place.
What does a 70% success rate matter, for example, if you end up being one of the 30% who don’t quit? That’s going to make you feel worse, not better.
However, I will say that if you do find a clinic with an impressive success rate and you want to try them, I fully support you. I support people trying any healthy way to quit their addiction. I believe in the saying “there are many paths up the mountain.”
I can’t promise you success. But I do promise to help in every way that I can.
What’s your motivation?
The number one question I want you to ask yourself prior to scheduling an appointment, is “What’s your reason for quitting right now?”
I recommend you only come in for treatment if YOU are choosing to do this. Not because your doctor told you to and not because your spouse is pushing you into it. You are likely going to have some uncomfortable days as you move through the various stages of addiction recovery so it’s important that you are choosing this for yourself.
